Editor review
Cinder Leap is a leap-timing arcade where you jump between glowing cinders that pulse to a rhythm. Land during the bright pulse for full score; land dim and you lose health. Forty levels.
What works is the rhythm-leap coupling. The cinder pulse and the leap timing are designed to align in a satisfying way. Skilled players find the rhythm; unskilled players miss it. The skill ceiling rewards practice.
Forty levels with increasing leap distance and cinder complexity. Late levels have moving cinders that require pre-leap calculation.
Tested over four Tanimachi Line commute rides. Touch tap is the natural input. Keyboard space-bar works on desktop.
Where the design earns its three-and-a-half is the visual presentation. Cinder embers glow against twilight backgrounds with subtle particle effects. The aesthetic supports the rhythm format.
Where I would push back is the absence of a rhythm-tutorial mode. New players who do not pick up the rhythm in the first three levels often give up. An explicit tutorial showing the pulse-leap timing would have helped onboarding.
Three-and-a-half stars. Solid leap-rhythm arcade with thoughtful visual design. Onboarding could be clearer.
